失魂家族是一部剧情,喜剧,惊悚片，吉恩一家的生活幸福美满，丈夫吉恩（François Marthouret 饰）兢兢业业，和善慈祥；妻子海伦（Évelyne Dandry 饰）温柔贤淑、端庄大方；他们的子女尼古拉斯（Adrien de Van 饰）和苏菲（Marina de Van 饰）也都分外听话。然而，一个不速之客的到来搅乱了家中的一切。某天，吉恩从实验室带回一只小老鼠，这个温柔可爱的小家伙仿佛具有恐怖的魔力，接触他的人全部性情大变。先是尼古拉斯突然在餐桌上宣称自己是个同性恋，接着苏菲则梦游摔成重伤，混乱不断升级…… 　　本片荣获1998年Sitges – Catalonian国际电影节最佳女主角奖（Évelyne Dandry）。
